Pratham Houston is holding its Annual Gala this Saturday, April 20, 2019, 5:30 p.m. at  Hilton Americas.  In 2019 they are excited to celebrate 20 years of Pratham USA and have the privilege to honor Mr. Vijay Goradia, founder of Pratham USA at the annual Gala for his dedication, commitment, and hard work to start and grow such a strong organization and help millions of children and youth in India.

 Pratham is thrilled to have my bestie Nicole Lassiter as their Master of Ceremonies!  They will also be featuring top Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor (he acted in Slumdog Millionaire) as Celebrity Guest .  Look forward to  a fabulous fashion show by India’s leading designer, Anita Dongre (www.anitadongre.com) . Anita’s  philosophy where she employs women to empower them to be self sustaining is remarkable. Pratham’s Houston Gala is the premier fundraising event with approximately 1,000 prominent philanthropists, corporate executives and members of the community in attendance. Out of the approximately $30 million dollars they raise annually worldwide, over half is raised in the US, and the Houston chapter is one of the single largest contributor of this fund raise.

Established in 1995 to provide education to children in Mumbai slums, Pratham (which means “first” in Sanskrit) is one of the largest and most successful non‑governmental education organizations in India. Their mission of “every child in school and learning well” drives us to address a learning crisis that leaves nearly half of the country’s fifth graders unable to read a second grade text. Pratham USA is a volunteer‑driven 501(c)(3) charity with 16 chapters across the US that raise awareness and mobilize financial resources for our work on the ground in India.
