Meet former “stylist to the stars” and now fashion designer Carlton JonesΒ Β . Carlton, originally from North Carolina, moved to New York in 1990 to head for the bright lights and big city. After a brief stint in retail, he started working as a stylist and soon became very much in demand by several celebrities. Carlton was the first stylist to put Queen Latifah in a dress, which put him on the map and became a defining moment. A few of the famous he styled included Mary J. Blige, Halle Berry, Michelle Obama and Aretha Franklin. All of this experience and exposure led him to launch his own line in 2013. He started with swimsuit coverups. His motto “be chic in the heat”. His collection later grew to include ready-to-wear with a targeted market of “resort style”. Carlton likes to design with beautiful silks, in an array of colors that can fit all different types of women. He was recently showing his 3rd collection at Sloan/Hall and the Houston ladies were raving. Warm weather resort clothes that can also be worn in the city are perfect for us. To quote Carlton “Resort isn’t just a destination, it’s a feeling” Amen!!
Here I’m modeling a beautiful deep blue blouse with palazzo pants. This outfit can go anywhere!
I am also wearing jewelry by famed stylist Derek Warburton, who has recently added a jewelry line to his immense fashion resume. I will be blogging about Derek and his Mr. Warburton line very soon.
