Located in the heart of River Oaks on Bammel Lane, Richly Clad offers an eclectic mix of designer clothing, accessories, & home decor from around the world, as well as local Houston designers. The variety of designers include, Brass Thread x Lilah Gabriel, Calvin Rucker, Swildens, /Skout/, Ottod’Ame, 3×1, Strom Denim, Shanaz Designs, Brookes Boswell, Zadig & Voltaire + more! Owners Cara Carbajal and Kahia Perry both have extensive experience in the fashion industry and you can see it the minute you walk in this cozy store. They offer a wide range of items for all types of tastes. You can find leather bras and skirts, lace slip dresses, jeans, beach wear, casual tops, graphic tees, cute dresses, rompers, blouses and tops, hats, sunglasses, jewelry and purses. This is definitely a one-stop shop where you can put together several complete outfits. I had so much fun putting together these three looks for our photo shoot, and I could have easily put together 20 more!

Diane Caplan, who founded /skout/ 2 years ago was so inspired by the different jewelry artists she carried, appreciating the handmade aspect, the time and love they put into it all, that she decided to create her own line. Her talent in jewelry design is amazing and unique. She has  always been a fan of anything statement, and is very drawn to using items from nature, whether that is a deer antler to sharks teeth. She feels that there is something so beautiful and somewhat spiritual about it. Since this magazine mogul-business woman  has such a fast paced job in her daily life, she finds jewelry making therapeutic.  Soldering and creating one of a kind statement necklaces is the one thing that helps her brain just “relax”….it is her Zen to spend a Sunday afternoon just creating. She does it for her own peace, but if others find beauty in it and buy a piece that is just icing on the cake.

This very talented designer has also created the very popular “Beachkin bag”. This bag, which resembles the Birkin, is made of thick plastic and  comes in all different fun colors and styles. She also wraps each of the bags’  handles with colorful scarves. These bags are fast becoming the new obsession of Houston’s fashion set. You can take them from a luncheon to the beach…literally!
