ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION BREAKS RECORD AT BONE BASH GALA
On Saturday, October 26, 2019, the Arthritis Foundation welcomed over 590 guests to sold-out Bone Bash Gala at Royal Sonesta. This 9th annual event surpassed its fundraising goal and set a record for the Houston Arthritis Foundation, raising over $400,000. Attendees came in one by one decked out in the cutest Moulin Rouge themed outfits. Event Chairs Nicole Lassiter and Vivian Wise, who never disappoint, wowed the crowd with their gorgeous Moulin Rouge~themed costumes!
Partygoers enjoyed a themed Can Can vodka cocktail served in a martini glass, casino games, burlesque performance and live entertainment by The Guzzlers. The décor consisted of floral mannequin legs, an illuminated windmill and multiple LED screens that changed to showcase different scenes of the Moulin Rouge.
Bone Bash Honorees Page Parkes, Dr. Mark Sanders and Reyna Mejia were all on hand to mingle and stress the importance of raising funds for the Arthritis Foundation. Honoree Page Parkes expressed her deep gratitude for the event’s supporters as each and every dollar raised helps the Arthritis Foundation find a cure for the more than 100 forms of arthritis. Seventeen-year-old honoree Reyna shared her personal struggles with juvenile arthritis and was able to thank her pediatric rheumatologist, Dr. Ankur Kamdar, who was in attendance.
Presenting Sponsor River Oaks Hospital CEO, Christopher Douglas, shared with guests the deep commitment the hospital has to helping those impacted by all forms of arthritis.
“We are thrilled with the growth of the Bone Bash and the visibility this event is bringing to arthritis, which can many times be an invisible disease.” said Jen Torres, Arthritis Foundation Executive Director. “Each donation allows the Foundation to boldly leading the fight against this painful disease.”
The Arthritis Foundation is boldly pursuing a cure for America’s #1 cause of disability, while championing the fight against arthritis with life-changing resources, science, advocacy and community connections. Since its inception over seven decades ago, the Foundation has funded over $500 million in scientific discovery.
