Location: Market Square Park

Market Square Park, the original heart of community activity in downtown Houston, is once again the place to be. Combining live entertainment, tasty temptations by Niko Niko’s, shady walkways, a dog park and Lauren’s Garden.  Market Square Park is reminiscent of another era where neighbors gather and enjoy the space they call home.  The day we did this shoot, we ran into a group of Houston Ballet students heading to Niko’s for some lunch. On  Friday nights, you can go watch an outdoor movie under the stars. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and watch a different movie every week. Tomorrow night they’re showing Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. So fun. Hope it stops raining for a bit!

Take a quiet moment in Lauren’s Garden, a beautiful memorial that honors Lauren Catuzzi Grandcolas – a passenger on United Flight 93. With its flowing water, beautiful sculpture, seasonal flowers and leafy trees, the garden memorializes all lost on September 11. It’s mesmerizing.
