Location: Los Poblanos Inn and Organic Farm
On this Labor Day, I would like to give thanks to all those who have toiled for our prosperity. My father grew up on a farm in Illinois, which was founded in the mid-1800’s by his forefathers. My ancestors’ hard work and dedication to the land has led to my being able to have a comfortable life. How do you properly thank someone for that? We all have familial stories of our predecessors’ paving the way for future generations through their blood, sweat, tears and sacrifice. Labor Day is one way for all of us to give honor to the men and women who have made this country great.
We shot these photos at Los Poblanos Inn and Organic Farm located in Albuqerque, New Mexico. This inn holds a special place in my heart, for it was where someone I loved and lost worked and used to talk endlessly about having me visit. Well, we did visit there, several times and have become a part of his family.
Set among 25 acres of lavender fields, enormous cottonwood trees and lush formal gardens, Los Poblanos is one of the most magnificent historic properties in the Southwest. It is the most charming and relaxing inn with wonderful food, accommodations and so many things to do.
“Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”
