Fashion Mingle, Inc. is a fashion tech startup that is pioneering a powerful networking platform for fashion industry professionals. Co-founders Melissa Shea and Beth Smith are passionate about using technology to build strong local fashion communities.Their platform will provide the missing link between starting a business and growing a business for struggling fashion entrepreneurs. Fashionmingle’s online tools are designed to provide people with the networking, training, and promotion you need to grow a successful fashion business.

Here are a few questions I asked one of the founders:

1. How do people connect when they join Fashion Mingle?
In January we are launching a private social network and local fashion directory for 107 metro areas, so members can connect and collaborate with each other in interest groups or by groups for each city.

2. Are there categories for people to search once they are on the website?
Yes, we have identified over 50 occupations and fashion services, so as a fashion professional you will be able to setup your fashion directory listing in your city and also search for the services providers you need to grow your business, anytime, anywhere.

3. What was your process for creating this startup?
Since 2012 we’ve been interviewing fashion industry professionals and learning about the challenges of growing a business. We started producing content to help fashion professionals learn about growing their business and we’ve also covered New York Fashion Week each season as accredited press, interviewing fashion designers and learning a lot about the fashion business behind-the-scenes. We secured an investor this year and that has allowed us to put the team in place necessary to launch nationwide.
4. What are your goals with the website?
Our plans are to create digital tools that will help fashion professionals maximize their marketing and grow their business. Over the next year we’ll be rolling out a PR platform, digital look book, freelance marketplace, education platform, and mobile shopping app. We’ll be in close communication with our members to identify barriers they have to success and creating digital solutions to help them.

5. How can members thrive in their endeavors by joining Fashion Mingle.
Fashion Mingle is all about “mingling”! We’re putting the foundation in place by creating the social network and local fashion directories, but members will have to use it to thrive! We have lot of ideas for opportunities to connect, collaborate, and create!
