From the minute guests entered the side door at Rich’s, and walked up the stairway to the second floor, there was a mood of excitement for this evening and what it represented. The Back in Black Masquerade Ball hosted by Heart of Fashion and Vivian Wise represented the newness of 2017, the equality of everyone, our love of fashion, art and music, the cohesiveness of the people of Houston, our yearning to be daring sometimes, our alter-egos, and, most of all, our love for one another. Everyone at this party was exuberant, expressing their own interpretations of “Back in Black” and “Masquerade Ball” through fantastic fashions and masks. Rich’s night club is a two-story venue, with the second floor overlooking the first floor dance area, so we could all be voyeurs, watching each other from both levels. Party goers were treated to a photo-booth, dance music, open bar, and several rooms full of seating, streaming videos, live entertainment and surprises. This party just straight up put everyone in a good mood and made them feel warm and fuzzy about each other and 2017. When the Lady Gaga impersonator started performing for us upstairs people went crazy, but then when she took her performance to the stage downstairs for ALL club-goers to enjoy, well that was just the hit of the night. After that, several models came out provocatively posing on pedestals in some of Vivian’s favorite haute couture in black. Party attendees, as well as the first floor club patrons, gathered around to watch the fashions and listened to Vivian give a brief speech on why were are all equal and that we are all here to have fun and party with a purpose.
A portion of the evening’s proceeds went to Texas Legacy Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded by Vivian Wise. Texas Legacy earmarked those proceeds to go to HRC Human Rights Campaign.
As the largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer Americans, the Human Rights Campaign represents a force of more than 1.5 million members and supporters nationwide — all committed to making HRC’s vision a reality.
Once again, Vivian Wise has succeeded in continuing to make Heart of Fashion an amazing mystery and experience for everyone to enjoy and always creating a #partywithapurpose. Be sure to be on the lookout for HOF’s next event to be held May 11th. Can’t wait!!
