Dan Pastorini Charity is a 501(c)(3) non-profit with a mission to assist in raising funds for and awareness of several charities close to Dan’s heart. During its short-lived existence, Dan Pastorini Charity has benefited several organizations but has focused their attention on Be An Angel.
· Growing up in California, my family instilled a sense of responsibility in me,” Pastorini says. “But, I’m very proud to have become a true, naturalized Texan after spending all of my adult life in Houston and learning it is a ‘Texas Thing’ to give back and help people.
· After being introduced to Be An Angel, a non-profit organization that enhances the quality of life for profoundly deaf and multi-handicapped kids, Pastorini named the foundation as the beneficiary of their annual Dan Pastorini Celebrity Charity Golf Invitational.
· Without the support from our friends, we would not be able to support the causes we do today,” Pastorini notes. “It’s heartwarming to see how everyone steps up to support such wonderful organizations and we are excited to continue that ‘Texas Thing’.
Regarding Be An Angel:
Our mission is to improve the quality of life for children with multiple disabilities or profound deafness by providing essential adaptive equipment and select services. Since 1986, our mission has been to provide wheelchairs, hearing aids, adaptive trike and strollers, adaptive standers, van conversions and other select services that will enhance the life of a special needs child. The children seeking these items are typically from limited income families and the equipment being requested is often deemed by Medicaid and/or private insurance as “medically unnecessary”. Be An Angel relies on the generosity of our community to provide the adaptive equipment and with the gains of the medical and science community, many of our angels are living longer and require more equipment.
Hearing aids is one piece of equipment that is most requested. In the state of Texas, public schools are required to provide hearing amplification devices for students not owning their own device. However, the hearing impaired child does not take that device home on the weekend , holidays or over the summer. Since March, many of our special angels have lived in isolation by not having their hearing devices and families have struggled to provide basic essentials such as diapers, wipes, bed liners and nutritional supplements that are often provided by the school districts.
We are blessed to have Dan Pastorini as the Chairman of the Board for Be An Angel. Because of his heart and compassion for our angels, he has reached into our community and raised awareness for those we serve!
