Location: Sloan/Hall
Blanco’s might be gone, but thanks to Sloan/Hall and Vivian Wise, it has not been forgotten. A boot-scootin hoedown was recently held at Sloan/Hall complete with Mike Stinson’s band, plenty of beer, Titanium tequila, favors provided by Heart of Fashion, custom lipsticks from Lucky Cat Beauty, Armando’s bites and guests wearing their best honky-tonk duds. I did an earlier post on the history of Blanco’s, and it was evident that guests loved having it brought back! One of Sloan/Hall’s customers even got confused earlier in the day because the their sign was covered up by the Blanco’s sign! There was lots of two-step dancing, mingling and shopping, with a portion of the evening’s proceeds going to Texas Legacy Foundation, which chose the Orange Show as it’s designated charity from this event. The Orange Show was chosen due to it’s commitment and stewardship of Houston landmarks as well as its dedication to preserve the arts culture. Texas Legacy Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization founded by Vivian Wise.
Due to the nice cool weather, guests were able dance inside and then head out for a drink at the picnic tables outside. There were over 150 in attendance including Orange Show Board member Don Mafrige, Cathy Echols, Ceron, Bubba McNeely, Jeff Shell, Fritz McDonald, Kalyn Oden, Jaquel Andrews, Jerod Dame, Lori Sarofim and many more!
Look for the next big Heart of Fashion event to be held on 1-7-17!! It will be the Back in Black Masquerade Ball to be held January 7th. Tickets can be obtained through www.heartoffashion.com or contact Shannon Hall at [email protected]. The exciting mystery location will be revealed 24 hours prior to the party!! This is going to be the funnest way to kick off 2017 ever!
