Location: Woodlands Mall
Kiehl’s USA President, Chris Salgardo, flew in from New York for the opening of a new store at the Woodlands Mall.
Kiehl’s was founded in 1851 as an old-world apothecary in New York’s East Village neighborhood. Mind you, this was before Abraham Lincoln was President!
I had a chance to ask him some questions about Kiehl’s and a few tid bits about his personal life. Check out what he said below!
Where are you from?
I’m originally from Los Angeles.
I'm over 50 and so are some of my blog readers. What are your favorite anti-aging products?
I recommend using sunscreen everyday to prevent damage. Our Super Fluid UV Defense is like cashmere on the skin. I also recommend Powerful -Strength Line- Reducing Concentrate (contains 10.5% Vitamin C). I truly believe that Vitamin C does so much for the skin.
You started using Kiehl's products long before you started working there. What sets their products apart?
Their dedication to using only the finest quality ingredients. We are not concerned with our packaging, instead we dedicate our resources to superior ingredients and a lot of research goes into that.
What are a few products you recommend for those of us who live in the heat and humidity?
I recommend cleansing and toning in heat and humidity to keep the skin clean. Calendula Cleanser and Toner Duo is great. And for men I recommend Oil Eliminator Deep Cleansing Exfoliating Face Wash.
You are an avid motorcyclist. Tell me about Kiehl's Liferide for AmFar.
This is a 2 week ride that about 15-20 of us participate in every year to raise money and awareness for AmFar. It begins at the Harley Davidson headquarters in Milwaukee and ends at the Kiehl’s flagship store in New York City. We ride approximately 1,800 miles.
Are any rides on your bucket list?
Alaska! That is my dream.
You are a long boarder. Where do you board?
All over NYC. I like longboards because they have the bigger wheels that can hold a guy like me.
And to finish up..what are some of your hobbies? I hear you like archery! Where does that come from and where are you able to do that?
Twenty years ago I was watching the Olympics and became obsessed. It looked so skillful and meditative. I grew up target shooting, so I was interested in the skill of a steady hand. Not to mention, it also takes a lot of strength. There is only one place in Queens to practice, but I have a country house and can practice there as well.
