Location: Discovery Green
I am continuing my leading up to Valentine’s Day theme in this rose colored angel wing dress by Chloe Dao. I took this beautiful gown to Discovery Green and found the Mist Tree. The long waterfall sleeves complimented the flowing water from the sculpture, and the combination of the fabric and fit of the dress made moving around and posing so easy and comfortable. I added some sparkle to my outfit with these stunning magenta jeweled colored earrings from Tootsies to finish my look. Who says you can’t wear a gown to the park?
The Mist Tree in Discovery Green is by San Francisco artist Doug Hollis. Hollis likes to work with natural phenomena: in this case – water and mist. The mist is created by eighty nozzles that form a mist cloud in the bowl of the stainless-steel sculpture, while a circular pan creates a rain curtain around the perimeter. The architecture of the Mist Tree is a nice refreshing model of art, and can literally be a refresher on a hot day if you enjoy the mist coming out.
Chloe Dao discovered her love for fashion at an early age, and went to pursue her passion in New York City where she earned a pattern making degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology. After completing her education, she honed her skills in all of aspects of the industry, including design, production management and buying. In 2000, she returned to her hometown of Houston, Texas to open the Chloe DAO boutique, formerly known as LOT 8. It was her Project Runway Season 2 win that catapulted Chloe from a local immigrant designer to an international superstar living out her American dream. As a Project Runway veteran, she went on to become an Executive Producer and judge on Season 1 of the Vietnam installment in 2014.
The Dao Chloe Dao brand combines effortless sophistication with fashion forward style to produce unique evening wear and sportswear. Chloe’s signature flair, as noted on Project Runway, demonstrates her expert understanding of women’s bodies. We are so lucky to have her in Houston!
